Man arrested after alleged carjacking in downtown Seattle causes multivehicle crash

A 47-year-old man was arrested Tuesday morning after allegedly stealing a women’s truck near downtown Seattle and causing a multi-vehicle accident in the Central District, according to police.

The woman returned to her vehicle, which was parked near Post Avenue and Spring Street she found the man in the truck Police said. He supposedly pushed them, took their keys, and sped away.

Officials later saw him on Fifth Avenue South and South Jackson Street, despite saying he drove past them through multiple red lights, according to police.

Police said the man eventually hit a vehicle near 23rd Avenue South and South Charles Streets in the Central District and caused a collision with multiple vehicles that damaged three other cars.

The man got out of the crashed truck and fled to his house, where he was arrested, the police said.

The woman reported pain in her knee but refused medical help, a police spokesman said. No other injuries were reported.

The man was admitted to King County Jail on investigations into robbery and vehicle attacks.
