Seattle police arrested a wounded man on Sunday morning for allegedly assaulting an armed man walking North on Stone Way.

According to the Seattle Police Department’s online cancellation slip, officers responded to reports of a shooting outside a gym on the 3600 block of Stone Way North in Fremont shortly after 9 a.m. Sunday. When they arrived, an armed man said he had left when someone approached him and hit his head and chest. He drew a hidden weapon, shot the man, and wounded him.

The police found the wounded man about a block north. They called doctors from the Seattle Fire Department and took the man to Harborview Medical Center. Police said he was being treated for non-life threatening injuries. Once he is released, they plan to take him to King County Jail.

The police did not arrest the shooter because he apparently shot the other man in self-defense. A police report on the incident is not yet available, said a department spokesman.
