ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Seattle Mariners have put outfielder Mitch Haniger on their 10-day injured list and selected Triple-A Tacoma’s right-handed Tayler Scott.
Seattle announced the squad changes before a road trip against the Angels opened on Friday. Haniger suffered a broken testicle after a bad ball hit and hit him during Thursday’s game against Houston. Haniger ended the attack but was eventually replaced.
It’s the second unusual injury on the Seattle outfield this week. Braden Bishop landed on the list of injured due to a spleen injury sustained after being unlucky enough to be a minor. Haniger fights for the plate and only hits .220.
The 27-year-old Scott will make his debut in the Major League on his first appearance and will be the first South African pitcher to appear in the Majors. Scott was 3–2 in 19 appearances in the minors that season. He is from Johannesburg.
