West Seattle Blog… | YOU CAN HELP: Combat Arts Academy’s annual food-and-more donation drive is on!

The holiday season is over, but the needs of the community – and the giving of opportunity – are not. Here’s one way you can help – the annual one Martial arts academy Fundraiser for the West Seattle Food Bank and be Clothes linehelping thousands of your neighbors in need.

From the CAA announcement:

In the early years, CAA collected approximately 1,500 pounds of food per food drive; in 2020 we raised 6,000 pounds of groceries! Given the pandemic and all of the challenges that come with it, we want to encourage donations of all kinds rather than setting a specific weight goal. Currently, financial contributions from the WSFB are highly recommended due to the pandemic, but we (CAA) will collect one of the following items:

Clothesline – Gently used or new items for all ages (infants, children, teenagers, adults), including:

Underwear (only new)
Gloves, coats, scarves (think Seattle winter clothes)
Blankets, sleeping bags, bed linen
Diapers & formula
Any clothes
Visit https://westseattlefoodbank.org/clothesline/ to find more items requested.

WSFB – Non-perishable, canned or packaged items are welcome

Long life milk
Juice (single servings)
Canned food (soup, chilli, mac and cheese, etc.)
Healthy snacks (granola bars, raisins, fruit leather, dried fruits, etc.)
Individual snack packs (peanut butter, tuna, etc.)
Applesauce / fruit cup
Visit westseattlefoodbank.org/donate-food to find more foods in demand.

Financial donations:

– Post a check (payable to West Seattle Food Bank) at the front desk for the ride or make a contribution online at westseattlefoodbank.org/donate-money. If you decide to post an online article, please add a note in the name of the CAA drive.

The amazing thing about WSFB is how they empower the community in West Seattle through the neighbors’ power to help the neighbors. Your mission is so important in this present time of need.
