West Seattle was one run shy in its quest to return through the losing class and secure an all-star baseball tournament title in 7th and 10th grade Little League baseball and the associated state tournament ground.
Rainier District held the Westsiders back 4-3 in a required second championship game on Saturday at Bar-S Fields in West Seattle after beating the same team in a first championship the day before.
West Seattle lost to Rainier Beach in the previous winners final and then defeated Seattle Central in the losers final to win a rematch.
West Seattle was led by Otis Moore and coached by Brian Sherick and Matt LaBella.
The players were Cody Bühring, Jesse LaBella, Joe Sherick, Caden Ross, Reece Holmes, Cody Sazama, Ivan Moore, Duncan Monnin, Cam Fitterer, Hudson Harding, Jones Kasperson, Nicholas Beardemphl, Marko Woelfle and Dex Pudduck.
Minor ages 8-10
West Seattle’s stint in the Minors between the ages of 8 and 10 ended last Thursday in Gig Harbor in a 10-2 loss to District 10 champions Federal Way National.
The Westsiders had recovered after a 12-2 loss to Pacific of Edmonds for a 9-5 win over Fort Vancouver.
West Seattle used to win the District 7 championship.
