Information from West Seattle Thriftway
West Seattle Thriftway, locally owned, announced today that they will not be hosting their long-running “Holiday Tasting” due to COVID-19. Instead, they’re hosting a holiday event with the aim of raising at least $ 40,000 for the West Seattle Food Bank.
About the event:
For the past twenty two years, West Seattle Thriftway and its distributors have hosted a Holiday Taste event that showcases new and special items for the holiday season. The event featured over forty vendors, more than 150 articles and was attended by several hundred customers each year. This year we are forced to cancel this annual event due to COVID-19 restrictions. In his place, we partnered with our vendors to create a Holiday Giving Event to do “something big” for the West Seattle Food Bank while providing a unique vacation experience for some of our customers. With the help of over 60 vendors, we’ve put together 50 amazing Holiday Bounty Boxes of specialty products, each valued at over $ 500. Customers can enter a raffle for the boxes with a donation of USD 5 per ticket. All ticket sales benefit the West Seattle Food Bank. With the help of our community and our generous sellers, our goal is to raise $ 40,000 for the grocery bank. West Seattle Thriftway will raise all donations up to $ 20,000.
“We have a great opportunity to do great things for our community. The use of the food bank’s services has increased dramatically due to COVID-19 and there are many people who have never had to use their services before. The mobile delivery service for groceries has increased by 300% since March alone. We hope so
The community makes it big for this event and shows what the Food Bank’s motto is. Neighbors help neighbors. “
